Scammers Pretending to Be Authorities Contacting Garda Businesses

The suspects pretend to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Comune firefighters.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

upon holding money, disappears.
