Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Comune (Municipality).

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having money, cease all contact.
