Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to arme magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve fallen prey to someone who,

if they ask for money, will disappear without a trace.
