Scammers Posing as Carabinieri Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda by phone, offering subscriptions to military magazine publications.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the Finance Police, Police, Fire Brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to fake magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, disappear and are no longer visible.
