Garda Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Military Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines of the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they ask for money, will disappear afterward.
