Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Mid and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel, but scam artists who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
if they ask for money, will no longer be seen.
