Impersonators Claiming to Be Carabinieri Target Medio and Alto Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

They are not members of the military, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if demanding money, disappears without a trace.
