Garda Area Scam: Fake Carabinieri Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
