Fake Police Calls Targeting Businesses in Garda Region Alerted

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

if they ask for money, will no longer be seen.
