Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigades, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they ask for money, will no longer make themselves available.
