Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda to Commit Fraud
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone contacts with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Comune police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,
if they ask for money, will disappear without a trace.
