Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Sending Fake Magazine Offers

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would disappear without a trace.
