Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses
They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.
They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or the Municipality‘s police.
How to recognize the scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
if they ask for money, will no longer show themselves.
