Scammers Pretend to Be Carabinieri in Garda Area Soliciting Magazines

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately report to the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, regarding money, disappears without a trace.
