Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
