Gargnano Temporarily Closes Trail to San Valentino Hermitage in February

Gargnano Mayor Giovanni Albini has ordered the temporary closure of the trail connecting Sasso to San Valentino Hermitage from February 6 to 28 for safety and refurbishment works. The pathway, which leads to the historic site located on Monte Comer at 772 meters, will be closed to hikers and local operators during this period to allow technical interventions.

The San Valentino Hermitage, built between 1670 and 1680, features a small chapel, sacristy, two rooms, and a storage area, fed by a natural spring. Its historical occupancy includes three recorded hermits in 1684, 1760, and after 1842, with the last known resident being Veronese hermit Geremia Paladini.
