Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they have taken money, will disappear and not be seen again.
