Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to armed forces magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, stay alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

having taken money, disappears and is no longer visible.
