Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, will no longer make contact.
