Garda Area Scammers Pose as Police to Push Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the military.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the Finance Police, the Police, the Fire Brigade, or the Municipal Police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
