Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, proposing magazine subscriptions from the arm.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipality) police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer appear.
