Scammers Pose as Police to Trick Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to police journals of the force.

These are not members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer make themselves visible.
