Garda Scam Alert: Impersonators Target Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to army-related magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with finance authorities, the police, firefighters, or the Comune (Municipality).

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer be seen around.
