Scammers Impersonate Police through Phone Calls in Garda Areas

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the authentic Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

if they had any money, would no longer show themselves.
