Scammers Pose as Police to Trick Garda Businesses and Residents

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those with no connection to law enforcement authorities.
