Scammers Pose as Police to Target Garda Businesses and Tourists

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize frauds

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri – by dialing 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
