Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines of the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, firefighters, or municipal officers (Vigili del Comune).

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would not show themselves anymore.
