Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the military’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
