Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,
