Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Calls, Ask for Fake Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These individuals are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
