Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners
They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the arma magazines.
They’re not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Comune police.
How to Recognize Scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
if they had money, would no longer appear on the scene.
