Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Sell Fake Magazines

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to the armed forces magazines.

This is not about military personnel, but rather con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you have the suspicion of having been targeted by someone who,

if in possession of money, does not show up again.
