Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone contact with hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not actual military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Comune fire service.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
