Phone Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Businesses

The impostors pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal Police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
