Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Publications in Garda Regions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Meio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to law enforcement magazine publications of the force.

These are not military officers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately contact the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
