Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to arm‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,
