Garda Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri to Scam Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to arms magazines.

These are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
