Garda Region Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Sell Fake Magazines

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to army-related magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the tax authorities, police, fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you have a suspicion of being targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, no longer shows up.
