Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
