Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Target Garda Businesses and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who sometimes claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
