Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Phone Calls to Sell Fake Magazines
They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, Fire Brigade, or the Municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they had money, would no longer appear.
