Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
