Garda Scams: Fraudsters Impersonate Police for Fake Magazine Subscriptions

The scammers impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
