Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Warn Authorities

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the armed forces, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,
