Beware of Fake Police Calls Targeting Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the magazines of the force.

They are not members of the military but are fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
