Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Businesses in Garda Region

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
