Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions on Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — by calling 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer show up.
