Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Trick Garda Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the arme magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or the Comune municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,
