Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Impersonators Targeting Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but criminals who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining money, disappear.
