Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police force, fire brigade, or the Comune‘s police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and do not show up again.
